I consider myself very blessed; and one of those blessings came in the form of a stranger turned friend just over a year ago. I thank God for bringing me this friend! With true European features that shine even past her beautiful olive skin and long black hair, my BEST is no nonsense when it comes to her ‘family is everything’ views (just one of the many things we have in common) and her big heart. She’s not afraid to stand up for what she believes in (and often has to push me to do the same). We have shared many good hearty laughs when something tickles our funny bones and supported each other through everything from trivial annoyances to sickness and even the loss of loved ones. We may not have known each other for very long, but we’ve grown so close and loosing her would be like loosing a part of my own family!
When it came time for her birthday this year, I made a very special cake for her-nothing but the best for my best!!! Of course, she grew up in a family that could all cook… so I was definitely sticking to a dessert! She’s got taste buds for all things Italian… and one of my favorite desserts, from when I was in Sicily, was Cannoli!! I can’t compete with that ! But what I can do is make a mean Cannoli Cake! I made a vanilla cake and hollowed both layers out so that I could fill them with a nice cannoli cream.
So, as if I didn’t already have enough sisters (lol), I am so grateful that I have found another in my BEST! Happy Birthday, Yo!
